Professional Registration
We offer two options that allow graduates of the school to become registered as professional Shiatsu practitioners. These options are:
a) To become a Member of the Register of the Shiatsu Society (MRSS)
b) To become a Member the Register of Shiatsu Practitioners (MRSP)
The Shiatsu Society
You can join the Shiatsu Society whenever you embark upon your Shiatsu training. To become registered as a practitioner through the Society, you must gain the school's Shiatsu Diploma, then either sit the independant Shiatsu Society practical examination or enrol upon the post-graduate tutorial year (PGY) which exempts you from sitting their examination. To sit the Society's practical examination, or to commence their PGY, a minimum of three years must have elapsed since you commenced formal Shiatsu studies. Hence, to be awarded MRSS, it will take you a minimum of three years if you opt to sit the Society's practical exam, or a minimum of four years if you take the PGY option.
Currently, membership of the Shiatsu Society is £160 per annum for registered practitioners exclusive of professional indemnity / malpractice insurance. With the Society's block insurance scheme, you can remain a registered member for around £221 per annum.
The Register of Shiatsu Practitioners
The European Shiatsu School is unique in offering you free entry onto the pan-European 'Register of Shiatsu Practitioners' immediately upon gaining your Shiatsu Diploma from the school. This will enable you to use the letters MRSP, and be listed on the practitioner register for public referral. Once you are entered on the register, you will be required to re-register each year, but no fee will be charged to you. Favourable insurance terms are offered to members, plus generous discounts on post-graduate and extra-curricular courses, books and training DVD's.
The Register of Japanese Bodywork
The European Shiatsu School is also unique in offering free membership of the pan-European 'Register of Japanese Bodywork' (MRJB), with favourable insurance terms, upon completing one third of the Shiatsu Therapy curriculum (i.e. after approximately one year of study). This will enable you to practice Japanese bodywork techniques as a professional for the relief of muscular pain, postural distortion and stress. Many graduates of our Japanese Bodywork course use this qualification as an interim step towards becoming qualified in Shiatsu Therapy.
