Qigong Courses
Most of these courses take place over one, two or three days, and are held at our residential centre in Lockeridge, near Marlborough, Wiltshire; in stunning landscapes, weather permitting; otherwise in a very nice indoor space. Residential courses begin with lunch on day one and end with lunch on day three (unless otherwise specified). Some courses take place at our in venue in the centre of Marlborough, and occasionally they happen in London or Brighton. Courses for UK based students are also held within our branches in southern Spain and Greece; where we also hold courses specifically for Spanish and Greek students.
Courses include exercises from 8 Brocade, Kidney Tonic, Spiral and Taiji Qigong forms; plus powerful Qigong visualisation exercises. In addition, experience the subtleties of exploring the difference between Daoist & Buddhist Qigong; all presented in a way that is totally accessible for complete beginners, intermediate students, and with all the refinements necessary to progress more advanced practitioners. The main teacher is Chris Jarmey, who has 35 years of Qigong practice behind him, and is author of 16 best selling books, including: The Theory and Practice of Taiji Qigong; The Book of Meditation; A Practical Guide to Acu-points; and the DVD: Taiji Qigong - The Road to Health & Vitality.
All participants should bring outdoor clothing and footwear and a portable water container (best quality filtered water is available on site for your container).
These courses are open to everyone, whether you have any previous experience or not. For the minority of participants interested in teaching Qigong, these courses count towards the ESS Qigong teaching certification programme, as described below:
THE QIGONG BASIC TEACHING CERTIFICATE
Learn to maximise the effectiveness of Qigong, and how to teach it to others:
An ongoing ‘apprenticeship’ training with Chris Jarmey.
Due to the nature of qigong, it would impractical to offer a certificated course with a defined number of hours over a set time frame. Therefore, this training is organised more along the lines of an apprenticeship. For example, when it is considered that you fully understand and can apply the principles of Taiji Qigong, you will be awarded a certificate to teach its basic elements and form, which is fully endorsed by major insurance companies. Basically, the more you are practising and/or have practised to date, the less time that process should take. You can also aim for teaching qualifications in other qigong forms.
